Can't believe I've not come on to Vox for nearly a month now!
In case you were wondering what's been happening in the past month, here's a summary in:
- Sold one of my Blythes that I thought would always be in my special group (FAO HW, Roo). She's gone to live with an awesome pal of mine in Sydney, and I know she's being loved heaps.
- Bought my first Jun Planning doll ever - a DAL Drta
- Sold DAL Drta after just over a week because we weren't really bonding and I needed the money for another doll (she's now living with another mate of mine in Melbourne, so I'll still get to see her from time to time at meets!)
- Ordered my first BJD, a msd sized DZ Xi. *SQUEEEEE*
- Decides to quit work because personal and company work ethics clash too drastically.
- Dad arrives from Singapore for visit.
- Has fiancé arrive from Newcastle for a 3 week long visit - hadn't seen him for nearly 4 months.
- First night that fiancé was here, he surprised me with my engagement ring (we had put off getting a ring because we wanted it to be the perfect one) - I am now sporting some bling on my finger. Lol. Feels weird, but nice at the same time.
- Gave my 2 weeks' notice at work
- On the SAME day, right after work, mom rings me on mobile to tell me that my paternal grandfather has suddenly passed away and we were all flying back to Singapore for the funeral within the next few days.
- Had to ring up work to tell them to basically screw the 2 weeks' notice; I would no longer be going back in. There was a sense of liberation in that even though it was due to bad circumstances.
- BJD resin boy arrives all nekkid and without a faceup. *More SQUEEEE-AGE*
- Fiancé had to cut trip short (he was only in Melbourne for 4 days!!!), and family and I flew back to Singapore. (Rushed decision, but decide to bring resin boy instead of any Blythes so I could work on his faceup while in Singapore because I could readily get MSC here in stores.)
- Missed Christmas Blythe meet at Christina/Orriettacat's home *kicks self*, and will also miss the Christmas bjd Melbourne meet that's coming up on the 16th. *kicks self harder*.
- Resin boy now has faceup and clothes and hair. And I think he's bloody smexy. XD
- Flying back to Melbourne on the 27th/28th of December - I CANNOT WAIT.
- Going to have some much needed me time before visiting fiancé in Newcastle in mid January.
Don't know about you, but I'm tired just doing the list above. ;)
Been at work for a month now, and I don't know if I like it there or not, even now. All I know is, unless something radical changes there, I'm not going to be looking at this as a long-term job.
Nothing much's been happening lately; been for a few dolly catch-ups, and am now busy trying to decide and work on what to make for my girls to wear for the upcoming Halloween/Alice in Wonderland theme tea-party at Grace's on the 29th. I was going to cop out and just dress them up as part of a deck of cards, but I'm thinking maybe my petites can do the honours as card soldiers. The neos would have to have something more impressive, but I don't want to go down the typical Alice route. Must ponder over this.
In other dolly news, I just got a new Azone Pureneemo girl, and I love how she's more posable than Blythes and Moofs. She's called Tohno, btw. :)
I'm going to whinge. Why? Because I like to, and I honestly haven't done that in a while. And I haven't really properly 'broken in' this blog with a rant. :)
I spent the day writing up 9 listings that went on eBay - 3 more than my first day of work, so it's sort of an improvement, I guess. Had my momentum broken with people coming into the store asking general listing queries and the like, and I also had to spend time checking items into our inventory for customers. Had to check in 36 lots of comics, among other things. >.<
It wasn't such a bad day at work, all things considered. Submitted my tax declaration form and bank account details, so yay, the boss now has all the details he needs to pay me my wages. :D Am also getting a couple more hours next week too, so only thing I can whinge about there is that my back is going to be more sore in the evenings after work. *sigh*
Lastly, on a totally unrelated issue, I wish some people wouldn't lecture others on things they obviously know nothing about. What a farce. Bleah.
Successfully survived the first day of work! Go me! :D
Arrived 15 mins early for that all important good first impression, only to be informed that I've arrived on the morning when the phone line and internet have been accidentally disconnected by the telco. Charming. That at least gave me time to learn the ropes around the place without having customers come in (as we stayed closed till the line was fixed about an hour later). Manager seemed happy with how I've performed for the first day, which is always a good sign. I'm sort of annoyed at myself that I took the whole day writing up 6 listings to be put up on eBay though. I'm a slow fart, but didn't want to leave out any minute details in case it comes back and bite the company up the arse after the auction - we all know how evilbay's like. *rolls eyes*
(That's essentially my job for now - as a trading assisant using eBay for customers who don't want to list and sell themselves for whatever reason. Even it's my first day, I've already seen a few interesting characters come into the store. No one with a Blythe for auction though! Bummer.)
Next day of work on Saturday at the other outlet! Which means I've got to learn everything I did today all over again, since they're working on Apples over at the other branch, while it's PC world at the main store. Whoop.
I'm starting a new job on Thursday. Eeeeeep.
It's going to be a trial period, and I haven't even sorted out the wage rates and days yet, but I'm actually going to be employed. I shouldn't be too happy and expectant in case the business winds up tomorrow or something. *touchwood* The boss is young at only 30 (and a spunk in a IT geek sort of way), but so nice, and very easy to talk to. I should probably delete this post now in case it comes back to bite my sorry ass at some later stage because it's work related. :D Small company, young staff, and from what I could tell from two interviews there, a similar work environment to my previous place of employment, minus the toys. Which is great (but would be better with the toys). The Ops Manager seems keen to get me on board as a store manager, but as I've not done done a managerial role before, I wussed out and asked if I could probably be put on as a PT staff and if I was settling in alright in a few weeks, to then switch to FT and train for the role. I hope they didn't take it in a negative way and that I wasn't interested, or didn't have enough drive - I'm just being cautious. Maybe a wrong move on my part?
Anyway. Work! Thursday! 10am start! 4 days a week! I can't wait. Best of all, I get to go on the internet at work, and its PART OF THE JOB. :D
Dead tired now, and for once, I think I might be going to bed before 2am. :D In fact, at around 9.30pm to be exact. Left the house at quarter to 8 this morning to catch my 40 minute train ride to the location for a job fair, and thankfully after 2 1/2 hours I'd gotten through the rounds of fun and games and those lala team building assessments and gained an one-on-one interview. Hopefully, I'll find out if I've gotten through to the next round within the next fortnight. Then, went to meet up with Sassie for a dolly meet. She'd just started collecting Blythes and was so eager to meet other Blythe collectors in real life, that she didn't quite mind it was just me (and Roo and Kenn) turning up. She's a lovely lovely person. We ended up chatting about dolls for 5 hours!! Alana popped by for the meet too; wasn't expecting her since she'd said the night before that she thought she wouldn't be able to make it, so it was great to see her there. Later, went to meet Eva during her work break and hey, more dolly talk!
I must have gotten up on the right side of the bed today because the jobs that I've applied for this week have all requested me back for an interview. Wheeee! Going to go for an interview tomorrow for a job that's coffee related, so I'm brushing up on last minute facts. It's been sooo long since I've last worked with coffee! 6 years! It's funny when I stop to think about it - all the jobs I'm being called back for are all retail related, but in different industries: one's for books and music, one's for coffee, and one's eBay/auction related. Weird shite.
