Dead tired now, and for once, I think I might be going to bed before 2am. :D In fact, at around 9.30pm to be exact. Left the house at quarter to 8 this morning to catch my 40 minute train ride to the location for a job fair, and thankfully after 2 1/2 hours I'd gotten through the rounds of fun and games and those lala team building assessments and gained an one-on-one interview. Hopefully, I'll find out if I've gotten through to the next round within the next fortnight. Then, went to meet up with Sassie for a dolly meet. She'd just started collecting Blythes and was so eager to meet other Blythe collectors in real life, that she didn't quite mind it was just me (and Roo and Kenn) turning up. She's a lovely lovely person. We ended up chatting about dolls for 5 hours!! Alana popped by for the meet too; wasn't expecting her since she'd said the night before that she thought she wouldn't be able to make it, so it was great to see her there. Later, went to meet Eva during her work break and hey, more dolly talk!
I must have gotten up on the right side of the bed today because the jobs that I've applied for this week have all requested me back for an interview. Wheeee! Going to go for an interview tomorrow for a job that's coffee related, so I'm brushing up on last minute facts. It's been sooo long since I've last worked with coffee! 6 years! It's funny when I stop to think about it - all the jobs I'm being called back for are all retail related, but in different industries: one's for books and music, one's for coffee, and one's eBay/auction related. Weird shite.
Pooped in a good, "I'm-just-really-tired-from-all-the-fun" sort of way.
The
dolly meet was fabulous today, with seven of us regulars turning up. In
total, we'd managed 52 neos and a couple of petites. Sue had went all
out making Vera's party one to remember by making little dolly sized
party hats, and the rest of us chipped in with some re-ment, a pop up
birthday card, candy, and even some fairy bread (bread topped with 100s
and 1000s/sprinkles).
The humans had a nice spread too - there were cupcakes, brownies, apple chips, cake, buscuits, fizzies, vodka cruisers and wine. *pats satisfied tum* It was lovely to see all the Blythes decked out in their party clothes, and there were some stunning sewing and embriodery on some outfits!
A couple of us took a short dekko to the patchwork fabric store a couple of blocks away (where Christina/Jamfancy's pretty much a household name there) and oh.... the choices!!! I'm trying to be frugal with my spending, so I wasn't about to splurge on so many of the wonderful fabrics there, but I did get some rolls of scraps that would make a couple of dolly dresses. :)
My girls did their best to behave at the party, and overall, I think
they were pretty good. Except I think Kenn and Roo got into a little
bit of a tiff on the way home (as you can see from the photo on the left where they weren't on speaking terms even in the group portrait).
Something about who got the most attention at the meet.
I'm
pretty satisfied with how all the dresses turned out - especially how
the colours really complimented each girl's colouring - but I would
have liked more time to add some extra accessories to them. Live and
learn, I guess. :)
As with all Blythe meets, I can't wait for the next one! Thank goodness us Melbourne bunch do like to have meet ups pretty regularly - I think another one's in the works for next week! Coffee and chat somewhere in St. Kilda or Albert Park was the plan. Yay!
I'm up baking brownies at nine in the morning, and am also giving the girls some last minute touch ups before the meet this arvo. Hopefully, the girls' dresses won't end up too wrinkled at the party, but I've got no choice but to carry them in a box for the meet. I couldn't find anything else decent enough that would fit all 6 girls - fleece reroots and pigtails included! Carrying that and trying to balance my beast of a camera plus brownies enough to feed 10, and all my usual junk that I carry with me is going to be ... interesting. :) There shall be loads of photos, of course!
Speaking of interesting, I've been receiving some interesting emails from a guy I met last sememster while I was still at uni. He was an international student from Spain doing a Masters in some building related discipline and we'd met at the postgrad orientation function. I'd met him that morning, and parted ways with him six hours later. Never bumped into him at uni since. How do you let a guy down like that easily? I'm rather amused by the whole thing, really.
Oooops, brownies are about done! Fingers crossed that they're going to turn out fine!!!
Update: Brownies are out, and thankfully, the oven held up. Have added a photo of the extras that we're going to be having at home. :)
