For those who are yawning cos they've seen this on TIB or Flickr or ATP or even my blog, cut me some slack cos I'm still in heaven about this girl.

After 4 months of not even being certain she'll come home with me, I finally managed to have a friend pick her up from the seller for me last Sunday. The seller and I had discussed a price for her (this was even before I'd seen a photo of the doll's condition), and I was afraid she'd had second thoughts about selling her to be since it's a very very good deal (for me). I am a bit annoyed with the seller than she didn't specify that there was a broken neck post (I had asked about the glue remnants and if that meant the neck was broken), but I can't complain seeing that she came to me at a bargain price and I'm not about to ask for my money back. :)

This little sweetie has been christened Beatrice Dimple - I'd decided on the name Beatrice from the time the seller sent me photos of her face, and 'Dimple' was added because I'd always had this notion of having a Scottish girl, and anyways, James likes the scotch whisky by the same name. Now all I need is a dark brunette wispy bang Kenner with a Welsh name to complete my little Kenner family.

I'm still on the hunt for a job, and like anyone who's been on the active search for a while, I'm getting really frustrated with the lack of positive responses I'm getting. I've finally gotten in touch with my ex-boss (who'd I've been in constant contact with through email up to maybe 2-3 months ago), and she's now prepared should any prospective employer of mine decide to give her a buzz to find out how big of a skiver I was at work. :D It sucks too cos the job I had before my stint with this ex-boss is pretty much non-existant now; the outlet of the coffeeshop franchaise I worked at is no longer around, and as far as I know; the manager I was under has quit and I have no clue where she is now. So, I'm rather stint on the referees' list. Plus, my visa-type is a little unusual, so employers would probably go for someone who's a citizen or a PR than have to deal with the little-known. *shakes fist*

So in between sending out applications with CVs attached and waiting for replies, I've been sewing stuff for the girls. And now with Kenn-chan's arrival, I've been having so much more ideas on what dresses to make next. I've always wanted a redhead in the family (I lusted over a PWP when I first got into Blythes, but never did own one), and now I've got one (and she's a Kenner to boot!), so I'm over the moon. Plus, all the trial and error with my sewing is good in two sense: I'm brushing up on my skills so hopefully I can start selling stuff to the dolly community and not feel worried that the hem might come undone; and the rejects are still happily lapped up by my girls at home. :)

Meet my new Kenner sidepart redhead. *SQUEEE*

I can't believe I actually won her today at a local auction. I've been good and didn't want to get my hopes up before the auction because I knew that competition would be stiff for this girl; and boy, was I right! She had a ridiculously low estimate, but that soon went out the window when bidding started. Was quaking inside since I'd never actually attended a live auction before and didn't really know game plans or any such tactics. And of course, it didn't help that I was bidding against people I know in real life; people from the dolly community here in Australia. I sort of feel a little bad that I won her. That, and because I ended up paying a little out of my initial budget too; I'm still thinking about the money, and not that I've finally got a gorgeous Kenner in my dolly family. I've been assured that the feeling's normal though; and will fade eventually. (I think it's already starting to after I took this photo of her!)

She's essentially just a head - the auction had her with a replaced body that completely was out of proportion; that, and she has one part of the replaced body's neck knob <del>AND her right pink eyechip rattling around in her head</del> (eyechip extracted from head!). They've also roughly carved and enlarged the neck hole to accommodate that gross body, and her scalp has evidence of being reglued back a little shoddily. But she's lovely in every other sense of the word. Hair is frizzy, of course, but there's some really good quality strands under the top layers, eyeballs are white (Yay!), eyes pip, very minimal yellowing (although with a bump/scratch near the middle of her forehead), and best of all, she doesn't smell funky!!

I'm still exhausted from today, so other than getting rid of that gross replacement body first thing I got home, I haven't done much else with her. The photo was taken at the Botanic Gardens near my home; I couldn't resist temporarily fitting a EBL body to her head. She's pretty, no? *proud KB mommy moment*

P.S: If any KB gurus can give me tips on how to do a full body transplant, I'd be eternally grateful! And so will Miss Redhead! :D
