How have people mispronounced your name? How is it supposed to sound?
Submitted by Lorie.
Well, I can't think of anyone that has mispromounced my name. It's easy. Jamie pronounced quite literally as "J-ME".
People do get my last name wrong though; but I'm sure many Asian people living in a predominantly western society would understand my grief. ;)
And slightly OT, people may not pronounce my name incorrectly, they sure do SPELL it wrongly! It's J-A-M-I-E, people. I know that there's alternate ways of spelling it (such as J-A-I-M-E), but really. I can excuse people who are just acquintances or people I've just met, but if you're a friend, please get it right? It's a pet peeve. :D
After 4 months of not even being certain she'll come home with me, I finally managed to have a friend pick her up from the seller for me last Sunday. The seller and I had discussed a price for her (this was even before I'd seen a photo of the doll's condition), and I was afraid she'd had second thoughts about selling her to be since it's a very very good deal (for me). I am a bit annoyed with the seller than she didn't specify that there was a broken neck post (I had asked about the glue remnants and if that meant the neck was broken), but I can't complain seeing that she came to me at a bargain price and I'm not about to ask for my money back. :)
This little sweetie has been christened Beatrice Dimple - I'd decided on the name Beatrice from the time the seller sent me photos of her face, and 'Dimple' was added because I'd always had this notion of having a Scottish girl, and anyways, James likes the scotch whisky by the same name. Now all I need is a dark brunette wispy bang Kenner with a Welsh name to complete my little Kenner family.
How do you take your tea or coffee?
Submitted by Vasquez.
Tea's over coffee on most days. It's my alternative to water, really. ;)
Tea: with proper milk (those 1% fat/skim/soy alternatives just don't taste the same), and no sugar
Bubbletea (lol): Green tea over red tea any day.
Instant coffee: Always with milk and 1 sugar
Other coffee: Whatever rocks my boat at the time. ;D
Can't believe I've not come on to Vox for nearly a month now!
In case you were wondering what's been happening in the past month, here's a summary in:
- Sold one of my Blythes that I thought would always be in my special group (FAO HW, Roo). She's gone to live with an awesome pal of mine in Sydney, and I know she's being loved heaps.
- Bought my first Jun Planning doll ever - a DAL Drta
- Sold DAL Drta after just over a week because we weren't really bonding and I needed the money for another doll (she's now living with another mate of mine in Melbourne, so I'll still get to see her from time to time at meets!)
- Ordered my first BJD, a msd sized DZ Xi. *SQUEEEEE*
- Decides to quit work because personal and company work ethics clash too drastically.
- Dad arrives from Singapore for visit.
- Has fiancé arrive from Newcastle for a 3 week long visit - hadn't seen him for nearly 4 months.
- First night that fiancé was here, he surprised me with my engagement ring (we had put off getting a ring because we wanted it to be the perfect one) - I am now sporting some bling on my finger. Lol. Feels weird, but nice at the same time.
- Gave my 2 weeks' notice at work
- On the SAME day, right after work, mom rings me on mobile to tell me that my paternal grandfather has suddenly passed away and we were all flying back to Singapore for the funeral within the next few days.
- Had to ring up work to tell them to basically screw the 2 weeks' notice; I would no longer be going back in. There was a sense of liberation in that even though it was due to bad circumstances.
- BJD resin boy arrives all nekkid and without a faceup. *More SQUEEEE-AGE*
- Fiancé had to cut trip short (he was only in Melbourne for 4 days!!!), and family and I flew back to Singapore. (Rushed decision, but decide to bring resin boy instead of any Blythes so I could work on his faceup while in Singapore because I could readily get MSC here in stores.)
- Missed Christmas Blythe meet at Christina/Orriettacat's home *kicks self*, and will also miss the Christmas bjd Melbourne meet that's coming up on the 16th. *kicks self harder*.
- Resin boy now has faceup and clothes and hair. And I think he's bloody smexy. XD
- Flying back to Melbourne on the 27th/28th of December - I CANNOT WAIT.
- Going to have some much needed me time before visiting fiancé in Newcastle in mid January.
Don't know about you, but I'm tired just doing the list above. ;)
What's on your Top 5 video games list?
Submitted by mileena.
In no particular order:
1. Zelda: Wind Waker for GC
2. The Legend of Zelda for NES
3. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire for GBA
4. Kirby 's Dreamland 3 for SNES
5. Contra III: The Alien Wars for SNES (yeah, I know. What the?!)
I'd add Animal Crossing to the list, but as fun as it is, it's pretty mindless and it gets boring after you've caught every single fish and bug and found every fossil and furniture sets. Not that I've done that, mind you. The stupid little dung beetle has eluded me (Wild World on DS) and is now the last beetle I have left to catch before I get my golden net. Stupid little thing. :D
All in all, can you tell I'm a hardcore diehard Nintendo loyal? Can't wait for the Wii!
Been at work for a month now, and I don't know if I like it there or not, even now. All I know is, unless something radical changes there, I'm not going to be looking at this as a long-term job.
Nothing much's been happening lately; been for a few dolly catch-ups, and am now busy trying to decide and work on what to make for my girls to wear for the upcoming Halloween/Alice in Wonderland theme tea-party at Grace's on the 29th. I was going to cop out and just dress them up as part of a deck of cards, but I'm thinking maybe my petites can do the honours as card soldiers. The neos would have to have something more impressive, but I don't want to go down the typical Alice route. Must ponder over this.
In other dolly news, I just got a new Azone Pureneemo girl, and I love how she's more posable than Blythes and Moofs. She's called Tohno, btw. :)
Just dropping a quick one liner before I go scuttle of to bed. Ouran High School Host Club, thank you for brightening up life and giving me something to fangirl about. (: Yes, I've finally started watching it!
*goes off to poke mushrooms Tamaki style*
What's your favorite thing to shop for?
Submitted by JadedButterfly.
There's nothing like a good, heavy tome in your hands, or breathing in that delicious smell of glossy magazine paper. No, there's nothing quite like it. (:
Agh. I wish I had something interesting to do. Honestly. I'm sick and tired of school, which isn't anything new, and now I've even resorted to making that statement public (not that it already wasn't). The end of term's eight weeks off, I'm keeping track of every little day that passes, and I'm really looking forward to the holidays, which can only mean my now yearly dose of kinokuniya and beach trips. Then maybe I'll be able to soak up a good change of atmosphere and do something other than mope my weekends away. The later-than-usual nights! The midnight suppers! The long walks to the park! Drives around the city!
Must hang on. Must, must, must.
